Joseph Brown Jr. Scomparso a 73 anni ad Atlanta per una polmonite
acuta il 25 Dicembre 2006, James Brown il «Re» della Musica Soul Americana
conosciuto anche con soprannomi come "Soul Brother Number One","Mr. Dynamite",
"The Hardest-Working Man in Show Business", "Minister of The New New Super
Heavy Funk", "Mr. Please Please Please", "Universal James","The King of
R&B", e il più noto di tutti, "The Godfather of Soul", il padrino del Soul.
Riconosciuto come una delle più importanti figure della musica del XX
secolo, un pioniere nell'evoluzione della musica Gospel e Rhythm and Blues
nel Soul e Funk James Brown, che si era autodefinito «il Padrino del Soul»,
è stato per decenni la stella della musica nera americana, incoraggiando la
rivalità tra Prince e Michael Jackson, da lui considerati suoi successori.
Negli anni ottanta era anche divenuto un volto cinematografico,
interpretando il ruolo del predicatore nei «Blues Brothers» e cantando una
delle sue canzoni più note «Living in America» nel film Rocky IV. Ha fatto
scuola anche sul palcoscenico, con la sua fisicità dirompente, che ha
influenzato successivamente cantanti del calibro di Mick Jagger e Iggy Pop. Nel 1956 scrive Please, Please, Please
(Tr.01-CD-01) ed è il
successo mondiale, consacrato nel 1961 con la registrazione dal vivo nel
tempio della musica nera L’Apollo Theatre ad Harlem, un album diventato un
vero e proprio culto, con canzoni come «I Got You (I Feel Good)» e «Get up
(I feel Like Being a Sex Machine)». Resta di lui una traccia indelebile nei
cuori di tutti coloro che ancora oggi traggono energia positiva da tutto
quello che in vita ci ha donato, il suo immenso patrimonio artistico!!
Questa doppia raccolta di successi festeggiava i 50 anni di carriera di
Mr.Dynamite e si differenzia dall'edizione normale perchè la Deluxe Edition
contiene oltre ai 2 CD con 50 canzoni, anche un DVD con 5 brani Live
registrati al
"The
House Of Blues", e
Un documentario di 90 minuti
sulla vita del mitico J.B. con Interviste, Backstage,Album Fotografici e
Filmati Inediti. tutto Registrato in Digitale 5.1.
Un'ottima selezione che ripercorre anche in video i brani migliori della
carriera di uno dei personaggi più amati da tutti coloro che amano la Soul
